Are logos really that important?

I’ve spoken about the things you need to build your brand successfully, by keeping things consistent both visually and through language you use. To enable your brand to be consistent visually you need to have a logo which will bring your visual identity together. So, in short a logo is pretty darn important.

A professionally designed logo is the best option to go for. You’re probably reading this thinking, ‘well, you’re going to say that you’re a designer’, actually there are more reasons I’m saying than just because I’m a designer. I’m honest to my clients, so if you could get a logo off the peg to suit your brand then great, but I don’t believe you can.

A logo needs to be more than just your company name written in a font and colour that you like. Your logo needs to shout your personality, grab the attention of your ideal customers and be able to stand out from your competitors. When designing a logo for you, I would want to know about you and your company, who you are trying to attract, your competitors, and what you like and dislike. There is no point me designing a logo that would work for your target audience, but it was in a completely different style to what you liked or used colours that just don’t sit right with you.

All in all, you need a logo to pull all your visual communications together and be the first thing customers see. You may be able to get this ‘off the peg’ but a professionally designed logo is the best option so that all the elements of a logo design are thought about rather than just what you like.
