So, I needed a website and I needed a website that was different to other graphic designers. If you want to stand out then you need to think outside the box.
Websites are full of movement at the moment, but I’ve never been one for following the trend. I’ve always wanted to be different. Like our house I always want a wallpaper or curtain colour that you can’t find anywhere, then a year later it’s everywhere.
I did this with my website – not built something that no one has or doesn’t exist yet, that would be silly – after researching other design agencies and graphic designers i decided to go for a horizontal scrolling website. Yes, I use templates but I only use these as a base to my design, once colours and fonts are edited and the templated pages and structure are used in different ways you have a completely different website. A website is your online shop front, what potential clients look at to decide whether they want to work with you or buy your products, so you need to be different especially if you are in a packed industry.
Using a WordPress template means I have full management on my content without having to spend time building the bones of how I want and need the website to operate. Of course some of the actions can be edited to make it even more bespoke.
When I design a website for a client, I get to know what you want to achieve from your website and research other businesses websites within your industry. I’ll then create a concept board (based around a template which I think works best for you company) to give you a feel for the website without starting the build, this will also include a site structure. A site structure is important to agree on as this helps with SEO and you need to make a website easy to navigate and use for your users. Once you’re happy with the structure and concept, I will start building. When it comes to content we can discuss this but I can help write the copy, source stock imagery or even arrange a photoshoot with you.
